"My lessons have been very enjoyable and I'm constantly learning something new.  What's great is that my instructor is teaching me what I want to learn"             - Sharon, current student

Beaumont "Beau" Bradbury PDF Print E-mail
Beaumont Bradbury is a professional drumset player who has recently completed a UCSC Bachelor of Music degree with an emphasis on performance.  He studied under Willy Winant for one year on rudimentary percussion, and George Marsh for three years on drum kit at UCSC.  His musical interests include jazz, blues, big band, latin, funk, cajun, zydeco, and any other genre that incorporates the beautiful sounds of a drum kit.  Beaumont is currently working with several groups in and out of Santa Cruz. These groups include Organasm, a Jazz/Funk organ, guitar, and drum trio based in Santa Cruz, Out of io, a 7-piece afro-latin world fusion band based in Santa Cruz (visit at www.myspace.com/outofio),  and Gator Beat: a cajun/zydeco/New Orleans funk group that has been playing all over the bay area and west coast for over 21 years.  Beaumont joined Gator Beat about a year and a half ago and has performed extensively with them at private, public, and festival venues including: Eureka Jazz Festival (Ca), MammothLakes Jazz Jubilee (Ca), Sacramento Jazz Festival (Ca), Pentastic Hot Jazz Festival (BC Canada), Medford Jazz Jubilee (Or), Clambake Jazz Festival (Or), Cotati Accordion Festival (Ca), and more... (visit at www.gatorbeat.com)

Beaumont is interested in teaching all ages and all skill levels, and constructs his lessons based upon the interests of the individual student.  For example, the student may choose to focus on building a repertoire of "feels"(rock, funk, jazz, latin...etc), working with drum sticks or brushes, working out fundamental technique issues such as stick and hand positions, emulating specific drum grooves from popular tunes, or exploring the realm of improvisation.  One can expect verbal and notated instruction (depending on the student's preference) as well as a hands-on, interactive lesson where both the instructor and student apply ideas directly onto the drum kit.
